Basic camp-kitchen-plans

dutch oven stirfry

If you have carefully planned out your camp-kitchen-plans before you go camping, you'll have everything you need for camp cooking.

The secret is to get a large tote which has a complete set of campfire cooking utensils. This will be your camping kitchen. We like to keep it packed with our camp gear and ready to go all the time.

Your kitchen tote bag can sit next to a cooler so that all the food and utensils are close together.

My camp tote is a large black zipper bag with wheels on one end. It has pouches and pockets and a large storage area.

When searching for your own perfect camp tote, make sure that once everything is in it, you still have a bit more room for extra items. Good camp-kitchen-plans will make for less stress while camping.

Have these basic items in your camp tote all the time

Utensils: carving knife, paring knives, can opener, 2-3 mixing/serving spoons, potato peeler, small whisk, long handled spatula, tongs and fork

Assorted wraps: Reynolds wrap, Press-n-seal plastic wrap, Ziploc storage bags 5 each(sandwich, quart, gallon), 2 large garbage bags

Eat ware: Paper plates, cups, spoons/forks/knives, bowls

Prep: Cutting board, paper towel roll, 2 large plastic bowls, 2 medium plastic bowls, dish towels, wash cloth, stainless steel scrubber, dish soap,

Vegetable oil, Crisco, salt and pepper

Pots and pans: Camp cookware set including frypan, medium saucepan with lid, coffee percolator. Cast iron skillet

Hot pad glove or leather gloves, stick matches, long reach butane lighter

Dutch oven lifter handle, hot dog roasting sticks,

Flashlight with extra batteries, hatchet, toilet paper roll, bug spray, corkscrew, battery operated air pump (for air mattresses), small broom and dustpan

By keeping these basics in your camp bag all the time, you're always ready to go.

The hatchet doubles as a hammer for pounding tent stakes.

Other seasonings can be added too, make sure you use small containers to minimize space.

When you get home from a camping trip, replace items that were used up such as plates, cups, silverware etc. also dishtowels and washclothes. Add extra batteries if you had to use your extras. By keeping these camp gear items packed all the time, you'll greatly reduce the stress of rounding it all up eveytime you camp.

If you are an RV camper, keep these items in your RV at all times.
