food-to-take-camping for lunch

The kind of food-to-take-camping for lunchtime is easy. Usually by noon, your breakfast fire has gone out and the sun has heated everything up. The last thing you want to do is start another fire. Yet, it's time for lunch. So what do you do? Put together some easy recipes and if you want them warm, use your Coleman stove.

hamburger

Cold cuts, sandwiches, hoagies, tortilla wraps are all great camping recipes for lunch.

If it is your second day of camping, chances are you have salads and chips left over from the evening before. Utilize your extras. It makes the work easier for you. Another way to utilize your leftovers is to turn them into something else such as chicken salad or egg salad.

Here are some easy lunch ideas to help you plan.

bagel sandwich hoagie sandwich
Sandwiches are the easiest meals to prepare. A little preparation and planning ahead of time and you can create fancy meals even for lunch and not even break out in a sweat. Using your camping grill you can warm up meats or toast your sandwiches.

Hoagies are just long sandwiches in my mind. Try squirting Italian dressing on one side of the bun and spreading Miracle Whip or mayonnaise on the other bun. Then top with your favorite meats, cheeses and vegetables.

Of course, roasting hot dogs is always an easy lunch too. You can roast the weenie's over a propane grill or fire. If you choose to roast over a fire, you'll only need a small fire for hot dogs.

shrimp

If you've brought along your propane grill or barbecue grill try skewering raw shrimp, brushing with butter and sprinkling lemon pepper seasoning over them and then grilling them over the bbq until they turn pink. These are excellent on a green salad also.
