You don't need a campfire when you have a portable-camping-grill
A portable-camping-grill makes short work of cooking when camping. Most grills use small canisters of propane, however, with the right tubing and connectors, large bulk tanks can be connected also.
Coleman makes several models of gas grills. There is the standard green, dual burner with wind shields. You'll need a tabletop or other surface to use it.
The red model has removable legs for stand alone cooking. Large kettles can be used on this model. It works great at home too. Cook your stinky foods, like crab legs, outside and keep the inside of your home smelling great.
These models are mild variations of the basic Coleman gas stove.
This is a small capacity oven that sits on top of a regular Coleman stove. The coffee maker uses the same concept. Neat!
I like the grill below that is used over the open fire or coals. Check out how compact it is. This one would be perfect for backpacking.
You can purchase a portable camping grill anywhere camping equipment is sold. Cabela's has a wonderful assortment of these and many more designs. Wal-mart also has inexpensive grills.
I've found that Wal-mart carries the less expensive, commonly purchased items. They do carry Coleman camping equipment.
